Leak Locating
Water damage can occur almost anywhere in your house. Water-using appliances and fixtures, such as
refrigerators with icemakers, dishwashers, washing machines, toilets and water heaters are
common locations of leaks.
Unfortunately, slow leaks at these appliances and fixtures are often times impossible to see until
it is too late. If it goes undetected, a slow leak can lead to rotting house framing and subfloors, and can
be a precursor to a catastrophic leak that can release several gallons of water per minute, causing
extensive water damage. A water leak detection inspection can help prevent these problems.

Water Mains
Water main leaks and breaks are generally the result of one of or a combination of the following:
- Corrosion of the water main, due to some surrounding "aggressive" soils (mainly clays or
loams)
- Movement of aboveground pipelines - which make the joints susceptible to leaks
- Change of water pressure in the main (similar to "water-hammer" in the home) can cause a
pipe's weak point to start a horizontal crack
- Ground movement around the main caused by dry/wet/cold weather conditions can cause a
"broken back" crack on the main
- Constant impact of road traffic over a main can cause a pipe to crack
- A poorly fitted main tap can cause metal corrosion and subsequent leaks
- Deterioration of aged fittings on a main (such as a hydrant or valve) can cause leaks
- Corrosion or damage to the house service line
The early detection of leaks also reduces the chances that leaks will cause major property damage.
Sewer Location
Ever wish you could see underground? Our high tech video inspection system will give you a bright clear
view of your entire sewer line. It will see every curve, drop and connection. We can locate problem areas
such as roots, breaks, separations and offsets. While the inspection system is in the ground we can
mark off the entire line above ground within 6 inches, showing you every bend and curve. We can find
that buried septic tank and locate the lids that may have been covered for years.
Cameras
We use specially developed state-of-the-art camera technology, which produces high quality color
pictures, allows our engineer to take a ’close-up’ look at the inside of drains, pipes and sewers.
These surveys identify the cause and nature of blockages while checking for internal conditions and
pipe work integrity.
The camera is propelled through the pipe work by a semi-rigid rod Pipes with internal diameters
ranging from 2" to 6" (inches) can be inspected and the results used to determine the most practical
and cost-effective method of repair. The camera findings are displayed on a screen along with its
exact position within the pipe. These pictures, along with full written text, are recorded on a
standard VHS format video to substantiate the survey report for later fault analysis.
The Result
All Ace Empire Plumbing & Solar television surveys come complete with a fully comprehensive report.
The report identifies the most economical and cost effective method of repair. Quick and accurate
problem identification makes a major contribution to our reputation of fast, efficient and cost effective
maintenance. |
